Patient health information (PHI) and any photos of the eye are encrypted by strong encryption and stored i the cloud in distributed locations. All data is transit between the apps and at rest are all encrypted.

EyecareLive implements all requirements for HIPAA compliance and follows industry’s best practices for deploying a HIPAA secure platform on the cloud. We use higher levels of encryption than mandated by HIPAA regulations to secure and store the patient information. Multiple of copies of encrypted data is stored in multiple locations and can be restored in case of failures. Access to all the data is logged and audited to prevent unauthorized access. Patient’s credit card information is also stored in PCI compliant third party cloud only.

Only if you are licensed in the state from which the patient initiates the visit. Telemedicine laws in most states allow doctors ot see their own patients while the patients or the doctors are traveling outside of their licensed state.

You may charge the patient your U&C fees privately. Patients’ are required to provide a credit card on file on EyecareLive app and during the visit if EyecareLive is not able to validate the patient’s insurance eligibility, the doctor can chose to click on a button to charge the patient’s credit card for a video visit fee.

Yes, Parity law requires commercial insurance carriers to pay equal amount to doctors for Telemedicine encounters . Currently this provision is mandated in 30 states and rest of the states have similar pending regulations. We expect by end of 2018, all 50 states will implement Parity law and there may be no difference between in-office visit and telemedicine visit payments for similar level of patient encounter
